ABOUT FREEDOM CENTRE-UGANDA

Freedom Centre-Uganda is a Not-for-Profit organization that is registered under Mbarara District, and now regulated by Mbarara city authorities to contribute to community development and other services in Mbarara city and the district under Reg. No.MC/CBS/210673. Freedom centre Uganda was founded and legally registered in 2018 by a group of social workers and human rights defenders in Mbarara district to advance human rights, livelihood/wellbeing and humanism life stance among vulnerable people including youth, young women, urban refugees and sexual minorities. Freedom centre-Uganda has 250 members and has impacted over 1000 individuals in south western Uganda. Freedom Centre-Uganda partners and collaborates with other likeminded organizations including national coalition of human rights defender, Mbarara Rise Foundation, rainbow shadow, Rise for Community and Media Empowerment, Humanist International, Austrian Embassy etc. FC has 5 fulltime staff and 2 volunteers.

 

Freedom Centre Uganda’s programs include human rights awareness, Humanism promotion, advocacy and economic empowerment. The services Freedom Centre Uganda is offering include; capacity building/training in human rights and humanism, technical/vocational skills trainings to enhance livelihood, legal empowerment, safe spaces and supporting entrepreneurship among vulnerable young people

FC engages in capacity building of young people centering life skills as an avenue to enhance the development/capacity of the whole individual so that a person has the skills to make use of all types of information and opportunities around them to better themselves and their livelihood. Freedom centre implements this program in schools, refugee community and rural setting.

FC-UGANDA GOVERNANCE

The organization has a board of directors comprised of 5 people and a management structure composed of four working departments of finance and administration, gender and capacity building, programs, advocacy and communication.
