Freedom centre Uganda has implemented various projects in line with the organization’s goal and mission including;



Countering Rising Online Violence Against women, WHRDs and Feminist Activists in western Uganda

The project is funded by the Australian Government and managed through the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT) project aimed been at building capacity of young women, WHRDs and trans persons and key stakeholders to encounter online violence/ sexual violence through providing comprehensive digital and physical security and advocacy skills trainings for women to be able to advocate against ICT facilitated GBV on local and national scale. We will engage with key stakeholders and internet intermediary to develop action plans and implement policies to encounter online violence against women.

The major aim of this project is to promote humanism and build a strong humanist democratic leadership among university student’s leaders through humanist values that describes how humanistic leadership works.

Strengthening capacities of young women and girls to recover from COVID-19 economic shocks.

The project was funded by Children Rights and Violence Prevention Fund


Project goal: Young women and girls have developed competences and agency to recover from COVID-19 and succeed socially and economically. In this project FC aimed among others to conduct structured and comprehensive life skills trainings targeting 300 beneficiaries including young women and girls from oruchinga refugee settlement to enhance their competence to succeed in life. Freedom Centre-Uganda will support formation of young women and girl’s community clubs both in the host community and refugee settlement, with community clubs offering a platform for young women and girls to practice life skills and develop attitudes/competences that also matter in the world of work such as gender equality awareness, teamwork, decision making, conflict resolution and negotiation. This will be enhanced through interactive learning using role play, group discussion, games and theatre designed in cognizance to realities on ground that’sCOVID-19, gender inequality, violence against women/girls, marginalization and absence of wage employment opportunities in remote rural Isingiro District while focusing on enhancing community cohesion, personal and community socioeconomic development.

Promoting Humanism among grass root minorities persons in Mbarara city.

The project is funded by Humanist International


The Project is about building capacity of grass root LGBTI persons to strengthen their understanding of Humanism as an inclusive stance, promote critical thinking or scientific and evidence based information, the right to freedom of religion or belief and increase Humanist membership at Freedom Centre-Uganda. This will amplify LGBTI voices and agency to gain control of their lives and belief and motivate self-advocacy to fight long-life discrimination by the religious community due to their sexual orientation, gender identity and belief, and gain responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.
